House committee sneak peak

The full slate of Democratic committee appointments are due out later today, but sources deep within the Capitol say both Rep. Joe Rice and Rep. Claire Levy are bound for top spots.

Rice, D-Littleton, will take over the Business and Labor Committee chairmanship formerly held by term-limited Rep. Rosemary Marshall. And Levy, D-Boulder, is stepping into the Judicial Committee shoes formerly worn by Rep. Terrance Carroll, who's now in line for the House Speakership.

House Republicans named their committee appointments today as well.

They gave the "ranking Republican" designation on the Business and Labor committee to Rep.-elect Laura Bradford, the Western Slope businesswoman who thwarted potential House Speaker Rep. Bernie Buescher Nov. 4.

It's unclear what power - if any - that designation holds. A spokesman for the House GOP didn't immediately return a call for comment.
