Udall needs to excite, analyst says

When Rep. Mark Udall speaks at Invesco Field at 6 p.m., he'll need to give a speech that fires up Democrats about Barack Obama and not one on policy, one election analyst said.

"I don't think anybody wants to hear five minutes on energy policy,'' said Jennifer Duffy, who analyzes Senate races for The Cook Political Report, a nonpartisan publication.

Duffy said she doesn't expect Udall to give a speech in the vein of Montana Gov. Brian Schweitzer's at the Pepsi Center, which criticized Republicans and oil companies.

"I don't expect him to be controversial,'' Duffy said.
