Broken ankle keeps Sen. Dianne Feinstein at home

Senator Dianne Feinstein broke her ankle while taking a walk in the Tahoe Forest in Lake Tahoe and will skip the Democratic National Convention next week on her doctor's recommendation.

The Democratic Senator was in Lake Tahoe for the Lake Tahoe Summit, a gathering of elected officials, reported the Associated Press.

Feinstein, 75, was to chair California's delegation to the convention and was one of Hillary Clinton's biggest supporters. She had urged the presumptive nominne Sen. Barack Obama to select Clinton as a running mate.

In a statement Feinstein said: "regretfully, I am unable to attend what will surely be an historic convention in Denver.I was very much looking forward to chairing the California Delegation, and I offer my best wishes to California's delegates in this vital nomination process."
