Can I get around Denver without a car?

RTD provides bus and light rail service in Denver. But note that schedules may be disrupted by convention security measures and additional convention-related traffic.

"It's a good idea to check before coming in the morning, and leaving (work) in the evening," says Scott Reed, spokesman for the Regional Transportation District. Your best bet, Reed says, is to check in with the RTD website, rtd-denver.com, several times a day. Changes will routinely be updated at the site.

Another option: Borrow a bike

If you'd just rather not take the chance that there will be room in the racks
at the front of the bus, or you've forgotten to get a permit that allows you to
bring a bike on the light rail, Freewheelin' is there to fill the gap between
the artificial end of your commute and the office.

The nonprofit partnership of Humana and Bikes Belong has stocked stations in
seven downtown locations with 1,000 commuter bikes. Borrow one for free anytime
7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Aug. 25-28. Helmets provided. Sign up in advance at freewheelinwaytogo.com, or sign up at
the stations, located at: 14th and Stout streets, across from the Colorado
Convention Center; West 13th Avenue and Bannock Street, across from the Denver
Art Museum; East 17th Avenue and Lincoln Street, at the Wells Fargo center;
Platte Street at the base of the 16th Street pedestrian bridge; 1536 Wynkoop
St., at the Alliance Center; Speer Boulevard and Champa Street, at Sculpture
Park; Wynkoop Street at Cherry Creek.
