State Rep. Morgan Carroll has a new ally in her bid for the state Senate: the folks at SquareState.net, the only Colorado blog to receive credentials to report on the Democratic National Convention.
SquareState's new small donor committee - a mechanism that allows one institution to bundle $50 donations from many contributors - has so far raised more than $600 for the Aurora Democrat, according to the site's tally.
The progressive site's authors say it's the first blog with a small donor committee, which can contribute up to $2,125 per election, bypassing rules that limit contributions from other sources to $200.
"Yay! This really means a lot to me," wrote one SquareState poster, going by the name MorganCarroll. "You play a key role tipping the balance of power back to the little guy/gal."
Square state is also raising cash for U.S. Rep. Mark Udall's bid for U.S. Senate and the Congressional races of Ed Perlmutter, Diana DeGette and Betsy Markey.
