Barack Obama picked up another superdelegate in the Midwest this week with Iowa Congressman Bruce Braley announcing he is "fired up and ready to go" for Obama.
Braley endorsed Obama after initially endorsing John Edwards until Edwards dropped out of the race. Braley remained uncommitted until Obama phoned him and asked for his support following the Iowa Democratic Party district conventions this past weekend.
Braley told reporters in a conference call Wednesday that he made his choice after attending the caucuses and seeing independent voters, Republicans and young people all coming together to support Obama.
"I saw countless people participating in the political process for the very first time because they were so inspired by Senator Obama's unique ability to transcend the politics of fear and division that have crippled this country for the past eight years," Braley said.
"In this same spirit," Braley added. " I believe there's one candidate for President who has the ability to unite our country and bring about the change we need."
The endorsement of Braley, an attorney who hails from Waterloo, now gives Obama six of Iowa's superdelegates. Hillary Rodham Clinton has three and two remain uncommitted.
