California elects some big name delegates

More than 23,000 volunteers, candidates and other political supporters participated in the California Democratic Party selection of delegates Sunday. That number tops twice as many as have participated in the past, according to Sfgate.com.

Elected delegates include Berkeley novelist Ayelet Waldman; Steve Maviglio, aid to Assembly Speaker Fabian Nunez; Oakland youth organizer Jennifer Pae; media critic Norman Solomon; Reuben Martinez, owner of Libreria Martinez in Orange County; San Francisco Supervisor Chris Daley as an alternate; and celebrity attorney Gloria Allred.
