Wyoming superdelegate Nancy Drummond – still uncommitted – reads a lot in a handshake. So much that when she got to shake the hands of both Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton in a single day  earlier this month, the contrast was enough for her to take notice.
Drummond, who lives in picturesque Sheridan, wants to be clear that she likes both presidential hopefuls. Neither gave her one of those limp, fishy handshakes that make her shudder.
But if handshakes say something about a person, Drummond has this assessment about the differences between two: Clinton gave her a squeeze so firm she remembers it. Obama, too, grasped firmly but he had the softest hands Drummond has ever felt.
Maybe men in Wyoming don’t have particularly soft hands.
"It was something I noticed,” she said. “It was a very sincere kind of shake.”
Was the handshake experience enough to sway Drummond? She receives daily phone calls and e-mails from both campaigns hoping for her endorsement. She said she is leaning one direction, but is not announcing any preferences yet.
"No, but it could have,” she said, noting both candidates looked her directly in the eye when they reached out. “If they can’t give you a firm handshake, they’re not trustworthy … I’ve been around politicians enough to know that.”
